Artwork Guidelines
DIGITAL/PRESS/FULL-COLOR:
If we make any changes to your file(s), we will send you a virtual proof before printing. Templates are available for any product; please e-mail to have the one you need sent to you.
• We convert everything to CMYK; if you have color-specific needs, you should do your own conversion.
• On small and medium formats, pictures and graphics should be 600dpi (minimum 400dpi); on wide format minimum is 300dpi. You CANNOT up-sample a low-res picture to make it hi-res; this will create noise/pixilation in the printing. (Always use large assets to begin with.)
• On press, use CMYK 80|80|80|95 for black. On digital use 0|0|0|100 for text and small graphic areas and outlines, 5|5|5|100 for floods.
• On small and medium formats, bleed area is 1/8"; on wide format it is 1/4".
• White margins are always 1/4" minimum.
• Files should be a high-quality (press-ready) PDF, with no compression.
• We will accept Illustrator files, but only if all graphics are embedded and all fonts are converted to outlines.
• Photoshop should never be used to create print-ready files; we reserve the right to reject PDFs created in Photoshop.
• We charge $10.00 per file to convert Microsoft Word or Microsoft Publisher.
• We will not accept Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel, or JPEG files to print.
• We charge $10.00 per file to add a white margin to a job.
• We charge $20.00 per file to add bleed area to a job.
T-SHIRTS/PROMO ITEMS:
On all of these products we offer free artwork; we highly recommend you let us do the artwork since we are familiar with how these items are imprinted. Different products have different imprint areas and resolutions; you should enquire if a product is right for your message before placing your order. Templates are available for any product; please e-mail to have the one you need sent to you.
• All artwork must be submitted as vector.
• For multi-color jobs, all colors must be assigned to a swatch; if we are not printing "white", then these areas need to be knocked out.
• On multi-color jobs, colors typically cannot be in register due to the printing process; please enquire.
• No solid lines should be smaller than 1 point.
• No reverse solid lines should be smaller than 2 points.
• We only accept Illustrator files, and only if all graphics are embedded and all fonts are converted to outlines.
